I'm happy to see you back and posting! :)
Thank you! :)
Oh how fun! Sobia, the cook-master!! Awesome!
p.s. have you mentioned this friend before? how come i haven't heard of her? is she american?
Yeah, she's American married to an American ha ha.
She's just my fun friend I met. Our daughters are really good friends at school.
I'll refer to her as American Sam so the stories won't get confused! ha ha
Now I'm hungry!
Aisha sent me some of those Shan mixes b/c I was making Indian food from scratch (That is an INSANE amount of ingredients and work, isn't it?! LOL.)
I love the Seekh Kabob mix. We use it on ground chicken and then eat it on warm buttered pitas which I fry a little bit to make them kind of like naan, and seasoned yogurt. YUM!
That is like the only Indian style food I can get Carlos to eat and we have no good restaurants or markets here. I miss living near Washington DC! :p
A bit offtopic here, but I seem to have forgotten my ID and password for the forum and would like to ask a question.
I have been invited to my first thanksgiving here in the US. I want to bring along something (like pumpkin pie etc) to the dinner. Can you guys suggest something , would be great if you could give the recipe too :).
Sonia
Hi! Is Sonia your id at the forum? If so I'll send you a reminder. Yes, pie would be nice..pumpkin, pecan or cherry pie..All good choices!
That's cute tah she's so excited about desi food.
But I can't believe the shopwala overcharged her!
Warmly,
Baraka

Sobia,
not sure what my id was. guess i will have to register again ?
can you share your tried and tested pie recipes with me ?

Buy the pie! (nobody makes pies anymore....I can give you a cake recipe if you want though!)
Oh, I could probably come up with a good apple pie one or pecan one...I have this great southern cookbook....I'll have to locate it though...
Sonia --
If you want to bake a pumpkin pie (and homemade is always nice :)), the recipe will be right on the can of pumpkin. Try recipezaar.com for tons of good recipes.
One thing to watch out for -- pre-made pie crusts often have lard (pork) in them. Not all of them do, but you will need to read the label before buying the crust (even if you want to make the pie, I recommend buying a crust if possible because a good crust is a fiddly thing to try and make).
Hope this helps a bit. :)
i don't think you got the muslimah discount, i think you got the asian grocer knows you are married to a pakistani by what you buy and if he screws you he will get a visitor come beat him down.
i get the "muslimah" discount, which is actually the convert discount, whereby the grocer thinks I don't know how to cook becaus I am white, and gives me ebola meat. subhanAllah
Thanks alienbea, Will give this a shot :)
Haha sobia, good one....buying a pie sounds good too hehe.
